A 30 year friendship, a garage full of resin and a phone call that changed everything

It started back in 2016 when Jamie, then the Chief Operating Officer of a catering business, was building furniture for one of the bars he managed. He discovered you could add colour to resin and did what any good best friend would do. He picked up the phone and called Rochelle. "Come over. I have a new project."
Rochelle, a professional photographer and serial business owner, showed up and the rest as they say is history. Within months they were running small classes out of Jamie's 3 car garage. Within 6 months they had converted a house into a proper studio. And nine years later here we are: a full commercial studio in Balcatta, 18 workshops, open 6 days a week, over 60 members, a Creative Art Program and a community of over 35,000 people on socials who share one very common trait. A bit of a creative obsession.
What started as two best friends playing with resin in a garage has grown into something neither of them could have imagined: a place where people discover creativity they never knew they had, make friends they never expected and walk away with something they made with their own hands feeling genuinely proud.
9 years in Collective Obsessions is not just a studio. It is a community, a creative home and for many people a weekly dose of joy that makes everything else feel a little more manageable. And honestly? We would not have it any other way.
